2020 NFL Draft rumors - April 22

NFL Trade Rumors - April 22

Before the trade, there were some rumors floating around about Tampa Bay trading O.J. Howard and now they will begin to heat up again. There were also some people that felt Rob Gronkowski would consider coming out of retirement and coming back to play with Tom Brady. Since New England held his rights, that seemed a bit of a long shot, but unlike some rumors, that one came true.

Now, as far as the 2020 NFL Draft, there are plenty of rumors going on right now. Let's start with Washington and the number two pick. The Redskins are expected to take Chase Young, the elite defensive end from Ohio State. However, they have been taking calls and apparently, according to ESPN's Josiah Anderson, one team has "laid out a 'complete deal' for their number two pick."

Washington has also been dealing with left tackle Trent Williams' situation for about a year now. Should they have traded him for some draft pick already? Yes and now that the draft is coming up, they are back to discussing a deal with several teams, according to Ian Rappaport.

That takes us to Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and Miami. If you've been following the story, everybody is concerned about his past injuries, but you are always taking a chance on the quarterback position. Now the question is whether the Dolphins take Tua with the fifth pick, trade down or contemplate taking Oregon's Justin Herbert. In Armando Salguero's article in the Miami Herald, it appears that Miami wants to get into the top three to ensure they get a quarterback, because other teams are trying to get Washington's No. 2 and Detroit's No. 3 picks.

This all could be a smokescreen, but then Salguero writes this in his column.

"Multiple personnel people who hear from Dolphins people tell me the Dolphins seriously have debated not picking a quarterback at No. 5 overall." Logically, that makes some sense. Sure, Miami is desperate for a quarterback, but why reach for Herbert and even though Miami did give Tagovailoa a physical at the combine, did they find something that they were concerned about? Or do they like an Isaiah Simmons or an offensive tackle that is more of a sure thing at No. 5. They do have the 18th pick and one of those QBs could drop or they could take Jordan Love, if he's available.

There are also rumors that Carolina at No. 7 and Arizona at No. 8 according to multiple reports from Rappaport and Tom Pelissero. Arizona doesn't have a second-rounder due to the DeAndre Hopkins trade and could be looking to add one and a later first-rounder.

Another player who teams may be concerned about is Alabama wide receiver Jerry Jeudy. He's arguably the most complete receiver and could be the top WR taken or he could be the third behind teammate Henry Ruggs III and Oklahoma's CeeDee Lamb. According to 97.5's The Fanatic's Natalie Egenolf, teams are backing off "due to reported knee issues that haven't been disclosed yet."

Finally, let's turn to Dallas, where Jane Slater says that Jerry Jones says it's unlikely that the Cowboys would deal the No. 17 pick for a veteran. There were rumors that veteran could be Jets' star safety Jamal Adams.
