2020 NFL Draft Rumors - April 23 (11:45amET)
We're finally at draft day and many teams are looking to move up or move down. Will Washington finally trade disgruntled LT Trent Williams or will they just keep him?
The latest on Williams and Washington is that they aren't going to trade the No. 2 pick, unless they get a huge haul of three first-round picks. As for Williams, according to Les Carpenter of the Washington Post, Cleveland, Minnesota, Philadelphia and the New York Jets have shown the most interest in trading for him. Pro Football Talk's Mike Florida and NFL Insider Mike Garofalo have denied the fact that the Eagles have any interest in Williams.
The Eagles already drafted Andre Dillard in 2019 in the first round to take over at left tackle. There's some talk that they could bring back 38-year old left tackle Jason Peters back into the mix for one more season. He's been with the Eagles since 2009.
Detroit, Miami and Atlanta are the talk of the draft in terms of trying to move up or down. The Lions at No. 3, could switch places with the Dolphins at No. 5, as Miami is desperate to get a quarterback. Miami has even tried to trade up to get Joe Burrow, but it's not likely that the Bengals trade the pick. Why would you give anything if you think you have a franchise quarterback. They obviously are not completely sold on Tua Tagovailoa, due to medical concerns and not very high on Justin Herbert. But according to CBS' Jason La Canfora, they would take Jordan Love at one of their lower picks (18 or 26). But will he be there? They also have the LA Chargers at No. 6, who desperately need a quarterback and could move up as well.
So the Lions could still take CB Jeffrey Okudah or Derrick Brown at No. 5, if they trade down with Miami. The organization is apparently divided about both players and it's likely that one could be gone at No. 4, if Miami moves up to take Tagovailoa at No. 3. But what if the Giants take LB Isaiah Simmons or one of the really good offensive tackles? Does Detroit trade back with the Chargers, who could take Herbert or maybe reach for Love?
Miami has three picks at the moment and they not only need a quarterback, but they also need to address the offensive tackle spot. There are four really good ones in Alabama OT Jedrick Wills, Iowa OT Tristan Wirfs, Georgia OT Andrew Thomas and OT Mekhi Becton.
Atlanta has been looking to make moves. They really want DE Chase Young according to Fox Sports' Jay Glazer, but would have to give up a boatload to Washington, while the Skins are not really interested in moving the pick. The Falcons have the 16th pick in the draft currently.
