2020 NFL Draft Sleepers: Safety

NFL Draft Sleepers - Safeties

Safeties

1)Jeremy Chinn, 6-3, 221, Southern Illinois. Draft Projection: 1-2

Comments: Chinn may not be much of a sleeper anymore. But he does come from FCS and has to adjust to the speed of the NFL. Has the size to play linebacker and has good range. Could be a steal in the second round.

2)Ashtyn Davis, 6-1, 202, California. Draft Projection: 2

Comments: Davis did not run at the combine. A solid free safety without great size. Good instincts, who had seven picks in his career at Cal. Could defend receivers in the slot or play Cover-2. Solid pick in the second round, but wouldn't be a bad first-rounder.

3)Kyle Dugger, 6-1, 217, Lenoir-Rhyne. Draft Projection: 2-3

Comments. Another small-school safety with good size. Really good tackler and playmaker. He returned six punts for touchdowns and picked off 10 passes in his career. Coming from FCS is one thing, but D2 is tough. But he's not ordinary D2 safety. He has the NFL-caliber athleticism and size. He also can return kicks, which makes him more valuable.

4)Antoine Brooks, 5-11, 220, Maryland. Draft Projection: 5-6

Comments: Short but powerful player. A former linebacker, who will be a nice subpackage player. More of a box safety and special teamer.

5)Kam Curl, 6-1, 206, Arkansas. Draft Projection: 7-FA

Comments: Started his career at corner. Has long arms and good frame. Good athlete who ran a 4.60 and had a 34.5 vertical. Good motor and edge blitzer. Will have to make it on special teams, but can work his way into covering the slot.
