2024 College Football Conference Winner: AAC
2024 College Football Conference Winner: AAC
The odds are now up for the winners of each conference in college football. Of course, there have been changes to most of the major conferences, especially to the Pac-12, which no longer exists. In the American Athletic Conference, SMU, who won the title last season, left for the ACC. Former Independent Arm (+2800) joins the AAC for football only. Let’s take a look at some of the top picks in AAC.
Last season, three powerhouse programs (Houston, Cincinnati and UCF) took their talent to the Big 12. They added six teams from Conference USA with Charlotte, Florida Atlantic, North Texas, Rice, UAB and UTSA moving into the conference, creating a 14-team unit for this season.
(odds from Draft Kings)
Conference Championship Game Winner: Tulane (+320)
Tulane returns the best back in the league in Makhi Hughes and one of the premier defensive linemen in DT Patrick Jenkins, who had 11.5 TFLs last season. The Green Wave had a great season in 2023, but lost the title game to SMU 28-14 and in the Military Bowl to Virginia Tech. New coach Joe Sumrall has to replace Michael Pratt, who was solid. Oregon transfer Ty Thompson should get the nod as he’s a former five-star prospect. A lot of experience returns, but the good news is that SMU is gone.
Longshot: Army (+2800)
Army with a chance to win the AAC in their first season? Why not? They won their last four games and return option QB Bryson Daily. Last season, they ran out of the shotgun and Daily should be under center this season where he can use his 215 pounds and punish defenses. They have talent on the offensive line and they’ll rely on the experience and strong slotbacks to run all over people.
