2024 College Football Conference Winner: Big 10
The Big 10 now has 18 teams with Oregon, UCLA, USC and Washington joining the league from the Pac-12. Those moves should allow them to compete with the SEC. Oregon (+215) and USC (+2200) are the most likely teams to make a dent in the top three of Michigan, Ohio State and Penn State. The league also decided to remove the divisions, which means the top two teams will meet in the Big 0 title game. The biggest loss for the league was at head coach as Jim Harbaugh decided to take his national championship trophy and leave for the Los Angeles Chargers of the NFL. New coach Sherrone Moore has enormous shoes to fill.
Big 10 Championship Game Winner: Oregon +215
Ohio State is the favorite, but Ryan Day is still the head coach. Dan Lanning’s Ducks will not have a huge adjustment because they’ve been at or near the top of the Pac-12 for years. They also lose Bo Nix to the NFL, which isn’t the worst thing, because Dillon Gabriel from Oklahoma arrives to take over. He has 49 career starts at Oklahoma and UCF. He was first-team All-Big 12 last season and will have superstar WR Tez Johnson back along with former Texas A&M WR Evan Stewart to add to the mix. The defense is a concern with a new look up front though Houston transfer Jamaree Caldwell will help along with a slew of talented transfers.
Longshot: Nebraska +5500
Nebraska last won a league title in 1999, so it’s been a while. But with 14 starts back on offense and defense, they have a chance to make a statement. QB Dylan Raiola is a talented freshman who will have a Wake Forest transfer in Jahmal Banks (107 rec., 13 TDs in career) and Isaiah Neyor from Texas, should bolster an offense that was horrible last season. The defense was the opposite and with seven starters back, there’s no reason why they can’t have another elite squad that held teams to 18.3 points per game.
