2024 College Football Conference Winner: Big 12
2024 College Football Conference Winner: Big 12
The famed conference formerly known as the Big 8 is up to 16 teams after picking up Utah, Arizona, Colorado and Arizona State from the Pac-12. However, they lost Oklahoma and Texas to the SEC so while they may have more teams, those are huge losses to the conference. Now, the league appears to be very wide open with some of the new teams making a push including Arizona and Utah.
Big 12 Championship Game Winner: Kansas +900
This could be a longshot, but I think it’s time for Kansas football to show up and take this league. They have the experience and Jalon Daniels, when healthy, is one of the premier playmaking QBs in the nation. They have seven seniors of their 11 projected returning starters and a very experienced defense that should take another step this season. It’s a risk, but as long as Daniels stays healthy and they have RB Devin Neal, this is a very dangerous team. Offensively, they are going to be scary.
Longshot: West Virginia (+1800)
This is a real longshot, but again, with no Oklahoma or Texas, this is anybody’s Big 12. The Mountaineers bring back QB Garrett Greene is back, along with five experienced offensive linemen to protect him. RBs Jahiem White and C.J. Donaldson combined for 1,570 yards and 24 TDs last season. Six of the top seven receivers are back including Hudson Clement and TE Kole Taylor. WR Jaden Bray comes in from Oklahoma State (30 receptions LY) and should have an impact. Defensively, they improved last season and will need to take the next step. But this is a unique Big 12 team, because they run the ball effectively (3rd in nation) and most squads are prepared to stop the pass.
