2024 Conference Tournament Odds and Picks
2024 Conference Tournament Odds and Picks
It’s conference tournament time and there’s nothing better until the NCAA Tournament starts. Let’s start with the favorites to win the early conference tournaments and our best value to win as we won’t go with huge chalk.
(Picks from Ben Hayes)
(odds from Draft Kings)
Odds to Win the Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament
Favorite: Eastern Kentucky +150
Ben’s Pick: Austin Peay
The Governors have won seven of their last eight games. That includes a win over Eastern Kentucky at home. They are a team that is on fire and loves to push the ball. They’ve also gone OVER in eight straight games so keep that in mind.
Odds to Win the Big South Conference Tournament
Favorite: High Point -120
Ben’s Pick: UNC Asheville +350
High Point is the heavy favorite, but Asheville beat them at home on Feb. 7 and lost to them by just five points on the road. They won six of their last eight games. Drew Pember (6-11, 220), who started his career at Tennessee, leads the Bulldogs with 20.4 points and 7.9 rebounds.
Odds to Win the Horizon League Conference Tournament
Favorite: Youngstown State +195
Ben’s Pick: Oakland +240
Oakland has beaten Youngstown State twice and ended the season winning four of five games. Forward Trey Townsend put up 16.6 points per game, 7.6 rebounds and 3.0 assists. He’s one of the best players in the league and is unselfish which is rare.
Odds to win the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament
Favorite: Indiana State +170
Ben’s Pick: Indiana State +175
Ok, going chalk with this one, but how can I go against Cream Abdul-Jabbar? Six-foot-10 Robbie Avila has the greatest nickname in college hoops, but he’s also a very good player (17.6ppg, 6.9rpg, 3.9apg) and passer from the post.
Odds to win the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament
Favorite: Morehead State +100
Ben’s Pick: Tennessee-Martin
The Skylarks are red-hot, having won seven straight games SU and ATS. They also split with Morehead State and Little Rock, the other top teams in the OVC.
Odds to win the Patriot League Tournament.
Favorite: Colgate -250
Ben’s Pick: American +750
American beat Colgate on the road and lost to them earlier in the season at home. They also have one of the best players in the league in 6-9 Matt Rogers, who averages 16.45 points and has averaged over 20 points in his last three games.
Odds to win the Southern Conference Tournament
Favorite: Samford +150
Ben’s Pick: UNC Greensboro +425
UNCG lost both games to Samford, but they were single digits and this is where I think it’s tough to be a good team three times. Mikeal Brown-Jones is a 6-8, 220-pound forward, who got his start at VCU and is now averaging 19.3 points and 7.6 rebounds this season.
Odds to win the Summit League Tournament
Favorite: South Dakota State +175
Ben’s Pick: Kansas City +650
The Roos have won six straight games including beating South Dakota on the road. This team is red-hot and their last on Feb. 8 was in overtime. Nobody is playing better in this league right now.
Odds to win Sun Belt Conference Tournament
Favorite: James Madison +120
Ben’s Pick: App State +180
JMU is the favorite, but App State is 26-5 with a 16-2 conference record. They are always 10-14 away from home and beat JMU twice. Kind of worried about beating a team three times in a season, but JMU could lose in the semifinals.
Odds to Win the West Coast Conference Tournament
Favorite: Gonzaga -115
Ben’s Pick: San Francisco +1200
Ok, this is normally a Gonzaga tournament and since they are going dancing, I could go with Saint Mary’s. But I know what the odds are for San Francisco, but this is a really good basketball team who went 11-5 in the WCC and 22-9 overall.
