2024 NBA Trade Deadline Ends with few big deals
The NBA trade deadline ended on Thursday at 3pmET with very few key trades. There were mostly solid role players who were dealt and players like Dejounte Murray and Chris Paul ended up staying. In betting terms, it’s always important to know which teams got better and which got worse.
*New York Knicks receive Alec Burks and Bojan Bogdanovic from Detroit for Evan Fournier, Malachi Flynn, Quentin Grimes, Ryan Arcidiacono and two future second-round picks. The Knicks should get a little better offensively and worse defensively with this trade. The 34-year-old Bogdanovic was averaging 20.2 points and 2.5 assists on 46.8% shooting and 41.5% from three-point range for the dreadful Pistons.
*Brooklyn trades Spencer Dinwiddie to Toronto for Dennis Schroder and Thad Young. Schroder keeps getting dealt because he’s not that good. Toronto is getting ready for the rebuild.
*Utah sends forward Kelly Olynyk and Ochai Agbaji to Toronto for Otto Porter Jr, Kria Lewis Jr. and a 2024 first-round pick. This is more about the potential of Agbaji and that the Raptors have a bunch of first-rounders in what most consider a weak draft.
*Dallas deals Richaun Holmes and a first-round pick to Washington for Daniel Gafford. Gafford is an athletic 25-year-old, 6-10 big, who is averaging 8.0 rebounds and 2.2 blocks.
*In another deal of role players, Phoenix added Royce O’Neale from Brooklyn and David Roddy from Memphis for three second-round picks according to ESPN. The Nets reportedly get back Keita Bates-Diop and Jordan Goodwin. The Grizzlies add Yuta Watanabe and Chimezie Metu.
*Indiana adds Doug McDermott from the Spurs for a future second-round pick.
*Charlotte sends P.J. Washington to Dallas for forward Grant Williams, guard Seth Curry and a protected 2027 first-round pick. Charlotte also sent Gordon Hayward to Oklahoma City for future picks. They are getting guard Vasilije Micic as well.
*Philadelphia will get guard Cameron Payne and a second-round pick from Milwaukee for guard Patrick Beverley.
