A new plan for Baseball's return
It's nice to report some positive news for a change. Baseball is planning to return, but not to stadiums full of fans this season. That's not a surprise and two weeks ago, they were considering playing at least at the start, in isolation in Arizona without fan attendance from Jeff Passan of ESPN.
All sports that are considering starting or resuming their season are working on plans that involve no fans. Until a vaccine is implemented, this is the reality of all sports for the near future.
Now, an updated plan according to R.J. Anderson of CBS Sports, has that baseball is looking at Arizona, Florida and Texas, other than playing in just one state. Specifically, in Phoenix, St. Petersburg and Arlington due to the fact they have stadiums with roofs, that can retract. The objective is to play multiple games in those sites per day.
In a letter to baseball-ops employees yesterday, Commission Rob Manfred said: "I fully anticipate baseball will return this season."
Hopefully, baseball has a plan to make sure everybody involved-players, coaches, umpires, etc.-are safety. The fact that they are getting closer to returning is something the sports world needs right now.
