Alliance vs. OG Preview & Prediction - Free Dota 2 Betting Picks 7/30

Alliance and OG will face each other in the lower bracket final of the OGA DotaPIT Season 2: Europe. The online Dota 2 tournament features the best European Dota 2 teams competing against each other for a share of the $170,000 prize pool. Several Dota 2 tournaments, including The International 2020 had to be shifted online due to the coronavirus pandemic, the OGA DotaPIT being one of them.

OG Preview

Recently OG brought back Ceb to the active Dota 2 roster. The two-time TI winning organization has repeatedly made changes ot its roster as players lose the inspiration to play at the top level on a consistent basis. Ceb’s return to professional Dota 2 signals the start of a new era for OG as the player has been crucial to OG’s success in the past.

OG had a strong start to the tournament with a 2-0 victory over Viking.gg who had to face connection issues and were forced to play some part of the games 4v5. OG’s next match was against Nigma, but Ceb and co. could not match up against the synergy and practice that Nigma’s players have put in on this patch.

The lower bracket match against FlyToMoon saw OG pull off their all-in performance in Dota 2. The team exploited the minutest of errors by FlyToMoon to win the lower bracket match. OG’s playstyle involves the smallest decisions making big impact. The players choose off-meta heroes / playstyle and they know what their win-condition is at all stages of the game.

Alliance Preview

Alliance has had many inconsistent results of late. The team won matches against Ninjas in Pyjamas and Virtus Pro recently, but has also lost matches (sometimes with a 0-2 score) against lower ranked opponents such as Team Empire. Part of this inconsistent performance comes due to the team still trying to adjust to the new 7.27 meta.

So far in this tournament, Alliance won against NiP and Na’Vi (both 2-0 scores). The team also put up a commendable performance against Nigma in the upper bracket match. However, Alliance could not match up to NIgma’s depth in strategy and crucially, the team’s depth in hero pool.

Alliance is still a very strong team and has a unique playstyle. The team comprises vetgeran players like S4 and some really talented individuals in the form of Nikobaby, Limp and fng (on loan from Gambit)

Pick: Over 2.5 Games (+112 @ Pinnacle)

Despite OG’s brand name and their exciting playstyle, the team is still very new. Ceb has always been involved in the OG Dota 2 roster; however, his time away from the game is bound to impact his personal performance. Alliance has been together for long and it's players have a better understanding of the team’s playstyle and tactics.

The mix of early aggression by OG and the systematic gameplay by Alliance is bound to show a lot of push and pull between the two teams. I am taking this series to go the distance of over 2.5 games.
