Apeks Preview
Apeks has a Norwegian roster comprising several unknown names. The team also includes former NiP and Fnatic player, Dennis on its CS:GO roster. Dennis’s addition a few weeks ago was a significant step forward for Apeks’ firepower. The team was confident in its approach towards the best opponents and would often come up with innovative tactics to counter better-ranked opponents.
Dennis’ experience is useful to Apeks’ relatively young CS:GO roster. As the primary AWPer on the team, Marcelious plays a crucial role in the team’s results. The young player his always moving around the map, keeping opponents guessing about his position and angle. He does not take many risks, but the stability and consistency ensure that Apeks is always at an advantage.
Apeks finished the group stage with a 12-4 record. The team’s losses came against hREDS, ADAPT, BP5 and BRUNO. The best-of-one format in the group stage led to several upsets and Apeks’s losses include some of these upsets.Overpass and Vertigo are the strongest maps for Apeks. The team is also very comfortable playing on Mirage; however, their win-rate on the map is not as impressive.
Winstrike Preview
Winstrike’s CIS CS:GO roster includes several familiar names for CS:GO fans. Players like Hobbit, bondik and KrizzeN have produced excellent Counter-Strike over the years and have a combination of firepower and experience. As the former Major winner, Hobbit brings a lot of firepower and experience to the team. With steady improvements and results, Winstrike is slowly but steadily climbing up the CS:GO ladder.
Dust2, Nuke and Vertigo are the top map picks for Winstrike. The team’s T side aggression and tactics help it break down its opponent’s economy. With individual players stepping up to the occasion on multiple maps, it is no surprise to see Winstrike try to get as many rounds on its T side.
Pick: Winstrike ML (+154 @ Pinnacle)
Winstirke is ranked 31st and is significantly better than Apeks. While Apeks has had a winning streak, most of its matches are against much lower-ranked teams with less experience and firepower. I am taking Winstrike to win this match.
