Belmont Stakes Post Positions & Odds
On Saturday we will see the 152nd running of the Belmont Stakes, which will take place at Belmont Park in Elmont, New York. The event has a start time of 5:42 pm ET. Normally, the Kentucky Derby is the first leg of the Triple Crown but due to the pandemic, the Derby has been moved to Saturday, September 5th, with the Preakness stakes taking place on Saturday, October 3rd.
On Wednesday, June 17th, the New York Racing Association drew the post positions for all 10 horses that will compete in this year’s Belmont Stakes. Those ten horses will race for the $1 million purse on a 1⅛-mile dirt track. Last year’s winner was Sir Winston, who was listed at 12/1 odds.
This year’s favorite is Tiz the Law at -120. He is an overwhelming favorite as Tap It To Win is 2nd on the odds list at +600. Tiz the Law has won four of his last five races and he is the only horse in the field with a Grade 1 win (Florida Derby, Hopeful Stakes). In the Florida Derby, he had a Beyer speed off 100, which is the highest number of any horse in the Belmont Stakes.
I will have more on the race along with my prediction in the next day or two. Stay tuned.
