Best Bets for the 2023 NFL Draft
Best Bets for the 2023 NFL Draft
We’re less than a week away from the 2023 NFL Draft, which emanates from Kansas City from April 27-29. There are several ways you can bet on the NFL Draft. Most books have options on how you can bet the draft and it’s usually by first, second, third, fourth, fifth (pick), etc. There are some that have the first position to be draft and who will be the first receiver, QB, TE, OL, etc. Let’s take a look at some of the top props bets for the 2023 NFL Draft.
First pick of the Draft:
Bryce Young: The quarterback from Alabama is expected to go No. 1 to Carolina and he’s -2000 at BetMGM and -1600 at DraftKings so there is not a good value. If you want to take a chance on a longshot, Florida QB Anthony Richardson is +1500 at DK and +2500 at BetMGM. CJ Stroud, whose stock has fallen lately, is +800 at DK and BetMGM. He’s the second favorite right now as of the Friday before the draft on April 21.
Number Two Pick:
Will Anderson Jr. the Edge Rusher from Alabama, is expected to go to Houston. He’s listed at +160 to go 2nd from DK and +200 from BetMGM. Will Levis could be a nice small longshot at +300 from DK. I’d go with Anderson here though Houston does need a QB.
Number Three Pick:
Stroud is the favorite to go here, but if you don’t take a shot at Richardson going number one, take a shot here at +350 on DK for the Colts. Who knows if they will make that pick, but they certainly need a young QB.
Number Four Pick:
Now it gets tough because Arizona does not need a QB so somebody might trade up to get a QB. But if Arizona keeps the pick, Tyree Wilson (+1500 DK, +1600 BetMGM) could be the pick. The fast Edge rusher from Texas Tech has been moving up the boards.
Number Five Pick:
Seattle would love for Anderson or Wilson to fall. Jalen Carter might be the best player in the draft. The DT also had an arrest and awful Pro Day workout. He’s +500 at DK and +400 on BetMGM. Seattle doesn’t need to go QB here. They could trade down if C.J. Stroud is there and somebody desperately wants him. At +900, Stroud would be a great value, though as long as Seattle has the pick, expect them to go defense.
Position Props
(from BetMGM)
First Wide Receiver Drafted
Favorite: Jaxon Smith-Njaba, Ohio State
Another quality Ohio State receiver, but not a lot of value at -275 to be first receiver drafted. Quentin Johnson from TCU has the size that most teams need (+1000). Jordan Addison (+700) from USC is a strong route runner who can get downfield and is a nice longshot.
First Tight End Drafted
Favorite: Michael Mayer, Notre Dame -175
Go with Dalton Kincaid (+130) here. The former Utah tight end is a strong receiving tight end, who can run after the watch.
First Offensive Lineman Drafted:
Favorite: Paris Johnson Jr., Ohio State -175
Go with Peter Skoronski from Northwestern. Can play tackle or guard and is a no-brainer first-round pick. Decent value at +225.
First Cornerback Drafted:
Favorite: Devon Witherspoon, Illinois -165
Everyone needs corners and Witherspoon is a good one. But the better value is Christian Gonzalez (+140) from Oregon. Has the size and better upside at just 20 than Witherspoon (22).
First Defensive Player Drafted
Favorite: Will Anderson, Alabama -135
Tyree Wilson is a -110 favorite to be picked before Anderson and every other defensive player. That’s modest value. If you want to take a chance on a longshot, Jalen Carter (+1200) is the pick.
