College Basketball Transfer Portal: (4/14/20)

Let's take a look at the key players that entered the portal on Tuesday, April 14 and over the weekend.

Here are the key players who have left their program according to media reports, Verbal Commits.com, Rotowire.com, Twitter and other social media and the latest ones who committed to a school. Stay tuned as we will update this list every day and eventually compile the entire list of key players with their stats. Key players are listed in alphabetical order.

F Robert Allen (6-8, 200). Former school: Samford (14.1ppg, 7.0rpg, 1.3bpg). New school: Ole Miss.

Comments: Devastating loss for Samford. His shooting numbers went down some in his sophomore season and shoots just 28.8% from three-point range. But another year of sitting out and adding strength should help as he enters the SEC.

F M.J. Cage (6-10, 235). Former school: Oregon/Pepperdine. New school: ?

Comments: Son of former NBA big man Michael Cage, who spent 15 years in the league. Started his career at Oregon, moved on to Pepperdine, sat out in 2018-19 and then didn't play last season. Certainly has the size to intrigue some mid-majors.

G Chuck Champion (6-4, 185). Former school: Loyola-Md (4.6ppg). New school: Albany.

Comments: Rarely played last season, averaging 18.1mpg, but averaged 10.7ppg and 11.5ppg in the previous two seasons. Not a very good shooter though at 39% (30% 3pt).

G Radshad Davis (6-2, 205). Former school: Texas-Arlington (8.2ppg, 49.5% FG). New school: ?

Comments: Solid and productive guard who should see some attention from other suitors. Will likely have to sit out one year.

F Zion Griffin (6-6, 217). Former school: Iowa State (3ppg). New school: Illinois-Chicago

Comments: Griffin got very little time at Iowa State, but was a highly-regarded recruit. Will have to sit out and maybe he'll live up to his reputation at a mid-major program.

F John Hall (6-7, 215). Former school: Evansville (6ppg, 3.2rpg). New school: Portland State.

Comments: Hall averaged 9ppg as a sophomore and his numbers dropped some as a junior. If he can get back to his numbers of 2018-19, he'll be a big help to Portland State.

G Jarred Hyder (6-3, 180). Former school: Fresno State (9.1ppg, 38% FG, 30.2% 3pt). New school: ?

Comments: Hyder becomes the fourth Fresno State player to enter the transfer portal. Had some production as a freshman, which means he has a pretty good upside. Will have to sit out.

F Terrence Lewis (6-6, 205). Former school: Iowa State (6ppg, 51.5% FG). New school: South Alabama.

Comments: Good pick up for the Jaguars. He played just 13.6 minutes per game and averaged 6 points so Lewis was efficient. Will have one year left, but he might not have graduated, which means he will need a waiver to play.

F Rapolas Ivanauskas (6-10, 230). Former school: Colgate (13.1ppg, 7.6rpg, 43.2% FG). New school: Cincinnati.

Comments: One of the best big men left in the transfer portal head to Cincinnati. Good choice as several P5 schools were after him, but going to the AAC makes more sense. Didn't shoot the ball that well last season, after shooting 51.8% from the field and 43.4% from three-point range in 2018-19. Grad transfer will be eligible right away.

G Calvin Temple (6-0, 170). Former school: Louisiana (3ppg). New school: ?

Comments: You don't like to see players give up after one season and maybe he returns, because he'll likely have to sit out.

G Payton Willis (6-4, 200). Former school: Minnesota (8.9ppg, 3.6rpg, 35.4% 3pt). New school: Charleston.

Comments: Willis started his career at Vanderbilt and had two marginal seasons. Played pretty well at Minnesota as a starter and now has one year left. Good pick up for the mid-major CAA.
