It’s an interconference clash on the hardwood between a pair of teams at opposite ends of the standings in WNBA play in the Land of 10,000 Lakes. The Indiana Fever are on the road as they travel to face the Minnesota Lynx in the second game of a three-game set Sunday night. In the first game of the three-game series, it was Minnesota taking an 89-72 home victory to ensure a shot at a series win regardless of the outcome here. Pick: Minnesota Lynx
The Fever has been knocked out of playoff contention and the fact remains that the team is shorthanded at best right now. Indiana has dropped three straight and six of their last eight games coming into this contest. The Fever hung in for more than a half Friday night but were unable to finish things off. While Minnesota is missing Dantas and probably Clarendon for this one, the Lynx have plenty of weapons to do damage with on the offensive end of the floor. We saw the Lynx pile up 89 points Friday night despite Collier scoring only eight points. Expect a better showing by her and the Lynx get the win here to put themselves in position for a sweep of the three-game set.
Total: Over
Indiana is the league’s second-worst scoring offense, ahead of only the Sparks, and the under has hit in 16 of their 28 games this season. The Fever faces a Lynx team that has seen the over hit in 16 of their 29 games on the year in this contest. Indiana has gone over the mark in each of their last two games while Minnesota has gone over the number in each of their last three meetings. The first meeting this season, both matchups last season and five of the last six contests between the teams have ended up going over the mark. Seeing how things have gone with Minnesota’s improving offensive attack, this one winds up over the total.
