NBA Board of Governors passes plan to return
Get ready for some live sports as the NBA finally passed a plan to allow the league to resume action with 22 teams.
On Thursday, after a board of governors call with league commissioner Adam Silver, the owners approved a plan to finish the 2019-20 season at Disney World in Orlando according to Sham Charania of The Athletic.
They needed at least 3/4 support of the owners for the proposal to pass and it received a 29-1 vote from the owners on the call, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. The lone defector was the Portland Trailblazers according to Charania.
The plan features 22 teams from both conferences, with 13 from the Western Conference and nine from the East, who would play eight regular season games. A possible play-in tournament is also involved for the eighth seed, if a team is within four games of the final playoff spot after the regular season is over.
In other NBA news, the draft is now set for Oct. 15, while the draft lottery will be held Aug. 25 according to Wojaranowski. The expected date for the regular season to resume is July 31.
