NFL Free Agency Recap (3/24)-Newton Officially on the Market

We all saw the writing on the wall when the Panthers brought in quarterback Teddy Bridgewater, but the signing of XFL standout PJ Walker sealed the deal for the release of Cam Newton. Newton, who was a former NCAA Heisman winner, three-time NFL Pro-Bowler and league MVP in 2015, joins an already star-studded lineup of quarterbacks who are looking for a new home. The bad news for Newton, as well as the others searching for a new team, is that this year's quarterback draft class is one of the most stacked classes in recent years, and we could possibly enter the season with Newton, Andy Dalton or Jameis Winston not on an NFL roster.

Aside from the release of Newton, the Panthers added a great receiver in Robby Anderson who they signed for a two year, 20 million dollar deal. Jacksonville beefed up both sides of the ball Tuesday as they brought in defensive tackle Al Woods for one year as well as cornerback Rashaan Melvin on the defensive side and they picked up tight end Tyler Eifert as well for two years. San Francisco inked a one year deal with wideout Travis Benjamin and Seattle signed wide receiver Phillip Dorsett to a one year contract. The Packers added a much-needed wide receiver in Devin Funchess while the Jets replaced Anderson with another young stud receiver in Breshad Perriman to wrap up the moves of note for the day.
