Top 10 College Basketball Transfers
With Dan Hurley returning to UConn, we can now check on the latest transfers in college hoops. UConn, for example, loses Dennis Clingan and Stephon Castle to the NBA Draft lottery. They are still considered as the favorite to win their straight NCAA title (+1000) along with Kansas and Alabama according to Draft Kings. That’s because they’ve had a pretty good transfer class led by the addition of St. Mary’s guard Aidan Mahaney.
With Coleman Hawkins, a 6-9 transfer from Illinois, headed to Kansas State (for reportedly $2M) on Friday, let’s take a look at the top 10 transfer as of June 13.
1)Kadary Richmond: St. John’s. Former School: Seton Hall
Richmond averaged 15.7 points at Seton Hall and was a very good wing defender at 6-5. He’ll bring Rick Pitino’s squad back to the NCAA’s.
2)Tucker DeVries: West Virginia. Former School: Drake
Here is another team in need of a start and DeVries, a former MVC Player of the Year (2x) will be star in the Big East. The 6-7 wing won’t have to score 21.6 points and 6.7 rebounds, but this was a big-time get for the Mountaineers.
3)Johnell Davis: Arkansas: Former School: Arkansas
Davis joins John Calipari at Arkansas after averaging 18.2 points last season for FAU. Most importantly, the 6-4 guard shot 41.4% from the three-point line and also averaged 6.3 rebounds. He’s another grad student who will do big things in his final season.
4)Oumar Ballo: Indiana. Former School: Arizona
Ballo is another huge big man in the Big 10 at 7-0, 260. He should fit in well at Indiana, but will need to improve that 49.5% free throw mark for Mike Woodson’s squad.
5)A.J. Storr: Kansas. Former School: Wisconsin
Storr is a well-traveled wing who averaged 16.8 points and is the perfect replacement for Kevin McCullar Jr. If Storr can improve his efficiency, look out.
6)Jeremy Roach: Baylor: Former School: Duke
Roach shot 43% from three-point range last season at Duke. The veteran 6-1 guard also averaged 14 points and 3.3 assists. He’ll fit in perfectly at Baylor, replacing RayJ Dennis.
7)Norchad Omier: Baylor: Former school: Miami-Fla.
It was a good offseason for Baylor. Omier is a 6-7 wing who averaged 17 points and 1- boards, while shooting 59.8% from the floor. He’ll help most on the boards.
8)Great Osobor: Washington. Former School: Utah State.
Osobor was the Mountain West Player of the Year last season. The 6-8 post player averaged 17.7 points, 9.0 rebounds and 1.4 blocks for Utah State. His former coach at Utah State, Danny Sprinkle, brought him along to Seattle.
9)Mark Mitchell: Missouri. Former School: Duke
The 6-9 forward averaged 11.6 points and 6.0 rebounds for the Blue Devils. He’s a dynamic athlete who was going to less time for a loaded Duke squad.
10)Rylan Griffen: Kansas. Former School: Alabama
Kansas hit the transfer lottery with another quality wing. Griffen shot 39.2% from long range with the Tide last season.
