Top 15 College Basketball Transfers

College basketball is here and the transfer portal gets more important each season. Now with NIL available, athletes can move to the program that gives them the most money. The portal with NIL is also used by Power 6 programs to raid mid-majors of their top players.

1)Hunter Dickinson 7-1, senior center, Kansas (former team: Michigan)

Dickinson is one of the best players in the nation and averaged 18.5 points and 9.0 rebounds. He made a financial decision because the NBA is not a given with his lack of footspeed and defense.

2)Jessie Edwards, 6-11, senior center, West Virginia (former team: Syracuse)

Edwards averaged 14.5 points, 2.7 blocks and 10.3 rebounds for the Orange last season. He’s one of the most underrated big men in the nation and will thrive in the Big 12.

3)Ryan Nembhard, 6-0, sophomore point guard, Gonzaga (former team: Creighton)

Nembhard started 64 games with Creighton and is an outstanding point guard. He averaged 12.1 points, 4.0 rebounds and 4.8 assists last season. He also scored 30 points against Baylor in the NCAA Tournament game.

4)LJ Cryer, 6-1, junior shooting guard, Houston (former team: Baylor)

Cryer shot 41.5% from the 3-point line last season and averaged 15 points per game. He scored 30 points against Creighton in that same NCAA Tournament game.

5)Caleb Love, 6-4, junior shooting guard, Arizona (former team: North Carolina)

Love is coming off a rough season in Chapel Hill, but he did average 16.7 points this season. He will have a chance to show that he’s an NBA prospect at Arizona after prospering in the 2022 NCAA Tournament.

6)Max Abmas, 6-0, senior point guard, Texas (former team: Oral Roberts)

Abmas led the nation in scoring in 2021 and had an incredible NCAA Tournament. He averaged 21.9 points per game last season after averaging 24.5 points in 2021 and 22.8 in 2022.

7)Jordan Dingle, 6-3, junior guard, St. John’s (former team: Penn Quakers)

Dingle was named Ivy League Player of the Year after scoring 23.4 points per game. He also scored 25 points or more against Villanova, Utah State, La Salle, St. Joseph’s and Temple.

8)Jalen Cook, 6-0, sophomore point guard, LSU (former team: Tulane)

Cook started his career at LSU and then transferred to Tulane, where he averaged 19.8 points and 4.9 assists. He’s earned All-AAC honors over his past two seasons and now is back at Baton Rouge.

9)RayJ Dennis, 6-2, senior point guard, Baylor (former team: Toledo)

Dennis averaged 19.5 points and 5.8 assists, while shooting nearly 37% from three-point range. He also started his career at Boise State, before transferring to Toledo and now Baylor.

10)Adrian Baldwin, 6-1, junior point guard, Penn State (former team: VCU)

If you go to VCU, you better play defense. Baldwin was the Defensive Player of the Year in the A-10 and Player of the Year. He averaged 12.7 points and 5.8 assists for the Rams last season.

11)J.J. Starling, 6-4, freshman shooting guard, Syracuse (former team: Notre Dame)

Starling had a strong freshman season for the Irish, averaging 11.2 points. Head coach Mike Brey left the program and Starling moved on to his hometown Syracuse a day later.

12)Aaron Estrada, 6-4, senior point guard, Alabama (former team: Hofstra)

Estrada started his career at Oregon. He wound up in Long Island at Hofstra where he was the CAA Player of the Year in two straight seasons. He averaged 19.3 points, 5.6 rebounds and 4.6 assists last season on nearly 35% from long range.

13)Arthur Kaluma, 6-7, sophomore forward, Kansas State (former team: Creighton)

Kaluma fills a hole for a team that lost a lot. He averaged 11.8 point and 6.0 rebounds last season and has pro aspirations. He’ll need to continue to improve his perimeter shooting at Kansas State to make it to the big time.

14)Grant Nelson, 6-11, junior power forward, Alabama (former team: North Dakota State)

Nelson is a very agile big mean with some pro skills and athletic ability. He averaged 17.9 points and 9.3 rebounds last season

15)Tylor Perry, 5-11, senior shooting guard, Kanas State (former team: North Texas)

Perry averaged 17.3 points and was named Conference USA Player of the Year. He’s a tremendous shooter who made 41.3% of his three-pointers the past two seasons Kansas State needs another dynamic guard to replace 5-8 Marquis Nowell.
