UFC Fight Night: Dillashaw vs Sandhagen - Card Preview - 7/24/21
We’re back at the Apex center for another fight night card this Saturday, July 24th. Two weekends ago we had the blockbuster UFC 264 and then the UFC followed that up with a fight night card that saw 8 out of 10 fights not make it to the judges. So this card has some work to do to entertain the fans.
Luckily, there are a pile of intriguing matches on this one with the biggest being the main event. Cory Sandhagen is fresh off two highlight reel knockouts over Marlon Moraes and Frankie Edgar (you should stop reading now and go look them up if you haven't seen them before, they're crazy). The surging bantamweight is ranked 2nd and is knocking on the door of a title shot. To get there he’s going to have to take out former champion, TJ Dillashaw. This will be Dillashaw’s first fight since his 2 year ban for EPO usage. He was last seen getting finished by Henry Cejudo in an unsuccessful bid at entering double champ status.
Rounding out the main card has a prospect battle between Maycee Barber and Miranda Maverick as well as a top 10 women’s bantamweight matchup between Aspen Ladd and Macy Chaisson. We recently lost our heavyweight battle as Shamil Abdurakhimov and Chris Daukaus have been bumped back a week due to covid protocol. Edit: This fight got scrapped day before the card.
