UFC Fight Night: Makhachev vs Moises - Card Preview - 7/17/21
Well it was inevitable that we were going to get a dip in card quality after the UFC 264 blockbuster. Nevertheless, a few intriguing matchups to be found on this fight night card. And even when we have a weak lineup, there are still betting opportunities to be found.
This one is headlined by number 9 ranked lightweight, Islam Makhachev, and number 14 ranked Thiago Moises. We were originally scheduled to get Yair Rodriguez and Max Holloway as the headliner but that one fell through due to injury unfortunately. Makhachev at 19-1 (7 straight in the UFC) is the overwhelming favorite over the Brazillian for this match. This card is also back behind closed doors at the Apex Centre in Vegas this Saturday.
In the co-headline slot, we’re getting the return of former women’s bantamweight champion, Miesha Tate. Tate was best known for her rivalry with Ronda Rousey, as well as taking the title off of Holly Holm back in the day. She failed to defend it against Amanda Nunes however and after a follow up loss to Raquel Pennington, retired from the sport. She will be facing Marion Reneau who will be making her 13th UFC appearance. She is currently on a 4 fight losing skid so her UFC gig is most likely on the line.
As always, card lineup and bout order are subject to change but here's how it's looking so far. Tune in after weigh-ins for our betting articles.
