UFC on ESPN+ 50: Spann vs Smith - Card Preview - 9/18/21
Another fight night card slotted at the Apex Center in Vegas this weekend. This one, I gotta say, looks pretty decent on paper. There might not be a ton of top contenders, but we get a lot of fighters who are pretty exciting and are on the cusp of the rankings. A bunch of fights that were previously scheduled for other cards have been dumped into this one so at one point there were upwards of 15 fights scheduled. That number will no doubt change as we get closer to fight night.
The headliner is a light heavyweight bout between Anthony Smith and Ryan Spann. Smith, a former Jon Jones title challenger, has seemed to bounce back from rough outings to Glover Teixeira and Alexander Rakic by defeating Devin Clark and Jimmy Crute. His opponent may not have that sort of resume, but he’s proven to be a tough outing for anyone he’s been locked inside a cage with. He’s beaten 5 UFC opponents (most recently TKO’ing Misha Circkunov). His only UFC loss came to Johnny Walker (although Spann had a lot of success prior to getting finished in that fight). Both guys are super tough and love to throw down so this should be an exciting main event.
As mentioned, there’s a pile of promising fights on this card. You can check out the lineup below!
