UFC on ESPN+ 54: Costa vs Vettori - Card Preview - 10/23/21
Well we are gearing up to head into a very rare situation where the UFC will hold back to back pay-per-view events. But before we get to those stacked PPV’s we have one more fight night card this weekend at the Apex Centre in Las Vegas. The good news is this card is a noticeable uptick in quality over the last couple trash cards the UFC has been dishing out.
Headlining it are two huge middleweights in Paulo Costa and Marvin Vettori. Both men fell to current middleweight Kingpin, Israel Adesanya, in their last bouts. Costa suffered his first pro defeat by TKO where Vettori received his second decision loss to the champ. This one will probably end up as a grappler vs striker match up as both guys look to get back into the win column.
There may not be many other big names on the card but it should be pretty good nonetheless. On paper at least it looks like this one will produce some solid finishes and the bouts that reach the judges have the potential to be wars. The bout order looks a bit funky so I expect we will see some changes before fight night but here’s how things are looking so far.
